National News : भाजपा ने मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त (CEC) ज्ञानेश कुमार पर राहुल गांधी द्वारा किये जा रहे हमले को बचकाना करार दिया है. केंद्रीय मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने आज प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस कर राहुल गांधी और कांग्रेस पर हल्ला बोला. उन्होंने कहा, पिछले कुछ दिनों में हमने राहुल गांधी का व्यवहार और उनके कामों में दोहरापन देखा है. उनके व्यवहार को बचकाना ही कहा जा सकता है, जो संविधान के हर पहलू को कमज़ोर करता है.

The NDA government has granted the Election Commission complete autonomy to function independently in the national and public interest. It has never attempted to offer political benefits to any appointed Election Commissioner. It has allowed them to work honestly and has never committed the wrongdoing of offering them political positions in violation of the legal provisions. However, if we look at Rahul Gandhi's track record, which he conveniently ignores, we find that the Congress appointed a Chief Election Commissioner as a candidate on its party ticket, inducted another into the Union Cabinet, and appointed two Chief Election Commissioners as Governors. On one occasion, despite the Chief Election Commissioner's complaint that an Election Commissioner working under him was acting entirely like a Congress agent, the Congress government refused to remove that official. We have rarely seen such a degree of bias in any government's conduct as the Congress has demonstrated. Let us begin with T. N. Seshan, who served as Chief Election Commissioner. The Congress used to praise his integrity and fearlessness. But what did it do afterwards? In 1999, it gave him the opportunity to contest on a Congress ticket against L. K. Advani. If he had been administering the electoral system with such integrity as an Election Commissioner, was fielding him as a party candidate in such an important election, against a leader like Advani, not a way of rewarding him? M. S. Gill served as Chief Election Commissioner for five years, from 1996 to 2001. Interestingly, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan. In 2000, while he was still the sitting Chief Election Commissioner, he was conferred India's second-highest civilian honour. Was this not an inducement? पीयूष गोयल ने कहा कि NDA सरकार ने चुनाव आयोग को राष्ट्रीय और जनहित में स्वतंत्र रूप से काम करने की पूरी आज़ादी दी है. सरकार ने कभी भी किसी नियुक्त चुनाव आयुक्त को राजनीतिक फ़ायदा पहुंचाने की कोशिश नहीं की. उन्हें ईमानदारी से काम करने दिया गया और कभी भी कानूनी प्रावधानों का उल्लंघन करके उन्हें राजनीतिक पद देने जैसा गलत काम नहीं किया गया.
केंद्रीय मंत्री ने कहा, अगर हम राहुल गांधी के पुराने रिकॉर्ड को देखें, जिसे वे अपनी सुविधा के अनुसार नजरअंदाज़ कर देते हैं, तो पाते हैं कि कांग्रेस ने एक मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त को अपनी पार्टी के टिकट पर उम्मीदवार बनाया, दूसरे को केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल में शामिल किया और दो मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्तों को राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया.
पीयूष गोयल ने याद दिलाया, एक बार मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त की शिकायत के बावजूद कि उनके अधीन काम करने वाला एक चुनाव आयुक्त पूरी तरह से कांग्रेस एजेंट की तरह काम कर रहा है, कांग्रेस सरकार ने उस अधिकारी को हटाने से इनकार कर दिया.
किसी भी सरकार के कामकाज में हमने शायद ही कभी इतना पक्षपात देखा हो, जितना कांग्रेस ने दिखाया है. श्री गोयल ने टीएन शेषन (मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त) का जिक्र करते हुए कहा, कांग्रेस उनकी ईमानदारी और निडरता की तारीफ़ करती थी. लेकिन बाद में 1999 में, उन्हें लाल कृष्ण. आडवाणी के ख़िलाफ़ कांग्रेस के टिकट पर चुनाव लड़ने का मौका दिया.
उन्होंने पूछा कि अगर वे चुनाव आयुक्त के तौर पर इतनी ईमानदारी से चुनावी व्यवस्था चला रहे थे, तो क्या उन्हें इतने महत्वपूर्ण चुनाव में आडवाणी जैसे नेता के ख़िलाफ पार्टी उम्मीदवार बनाना उन्हें इनाम देने जैसा नहीं था? पीयूष गोयल ने कहा, एमएस गिल 1996 से 2001 तक पांच साल तक मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त रहे,
दिलचस्प बात यह है कि उन्हें(एमएस गिल) पद्म विभूषण से सम्मानित किया गया. जब वे मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त के पद पर थे, तब उन्हें भारत का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा नागरिक सम्मान दिया गया. कहा कि क्या यह कोई लालच नहीं था? क्या यह असल में रिश्वत का ही एक रूप नहीं था?
